"Voices of Resilience: Unveiling the Unheard Stories of Migrant Women" is an oral history project that aims to explore and document the experiences of women who have migrated from different parts of the world. This diverse group of women, ranging from ages of 17 to 60, represents a tapestry of cultures, occupations, and migration reasons. By delving into their personal stories, this project aims to shed light on the shared challenges, triumphs, and intersections of their migration journeys. Through their narratives, the project seeks to foster understanding, appreciation for diversity, and a deeper sense of empathy toward the struggles faced by migrant women in our lives.

What is migration?

We define migration is broadly defined as the movement of individuals or groups from one place to another, often involving a change in residence or location for an extended period. This movement encompasses various purposes, including economic opportunities, education, seeking asylum, or personal preference. Within this context, experiences of traveling and living abroad for work or education are also included.

The oral history project involves conducting in-depth interviews with each participant, allowing them to narrate their experiences in their own words. These interviews will be recorded and transcribed, ensuring the preservation of their unique stories and cultural heritage.

Woven Threads aims to make a significant contribution to the existing knowledge about migrant women in Korea. By amplifying the voices of migrant women and uncovering the shared aspects of their stories, the project intends to promote social cohesion, break down stereotypes, and foster a more inclusive society.
